Critiquing Photo Challenge

I believe this is my best image from this assignment because it took the most time and effort for me to create. I had to take multiple photos of the coin spinning to get the ones that were focused, at the correct angle and good enough to use. Then I had to edit them together so that I could show the process of the coin moving as is spins which also took a while. All together I am quite happy with how it turned out and the amount of detail visible on the coin. I also think it does a good job of being an explanatory photo and I like the concept I came up with for that category. The hardest part of this assignment for me was coming up with ideas for photos that were in the more abstract categories like theoretical and interpretive photos. Also although it wasn't necessarily challenging finding photos from other artists was really fun but took a while to sort through and find the ones I really enjoyed. I really liked what I did for this assignment, but similar to last time I would like to take more time when coming up with ideas and taking the photos in the future. I also like that I incorporated some more editing into my project this time and would like to continue doing that in later assignments.

Hi Casey!

I really like this photo you took! I agree that the lighting is really cool in this photo and creates a lot of harsh light and shadow that makes it have a lot of dimension. I also really like the bright colors of the photo, the green, yellow and pink make it really fun to look at. Having the bee as a subject is really fun and something I also really like to do when taking photos myself. I love how well focused it is and the details visible on the wings. The one thing I'd do differently is probably crop it in a bit more so the focus is more on the bee because although I agree that plants in the background are cool and have a fun pattern/lighting, I think there is a lot of it and zooming in on the bee would create a more effective image.

Great job!!

Hi Julia!

This photo is so good and it truly encapsulates sequence photography that was mentioned in the lecture. This is a great example of an explanatory photograph as it is showing the audience that the coin is in motion. It is so creative that you went about the sequential approach and took time to do so. The effort that you put into this truly shows. I also like that you gave it a black and white look; it fits the type of photo very well. This is one of the most creative photos I've come across in this course and it made me feel like I was present in watching the coin in motion. I have no suggestions for you other than to continue being so creative! Great photo!
